Cerebral psychology promotes a friendly and warm smile on arrival. At Cerebral Psychology we operate by two concepts: (1) competence and (2) integrity. A competent psychologist is always learning and evolving, applying the scientist practitioner model to ensure our clients receive the most effective evidenced based treatments.
We understand the landscape of mental health is always evolving where: (1) theories have been updated for treating more common disorders (e.g., obsessional compulsive disorder) and (2) emergence of less recognizable concerns (e.g., excessive social media or internet use), with the onerous on the psychologist to be informed of what may drive these concerns and best available treatments.
We understand in some cases people may have a long history of mental illness that not only originates from stressful life events (e.g., trauma) but irregularities in brain function, that requires a combination of therapies (e.g., medications). Evidenced based research for some disorders (e.g., depression or obsessional compulsive disorder) recommends a combination of medication and psychotherapy.
Integrity is everything to us, and we ensure we are not just actively listening to your concerns, but building trust and respect and collaboratively agreeing on mutual ways that we can manage your concerns in the most therapeutic and evidenced based methods. Lastly this means we tailor therapy to you, meaning, we ensure we understand your story, what has currently intensified and maintains your symptoms, while acknowledging your strengths to assist us in formulating your own measurable, goal-oriented treatment plan.
Our mission is simple – to assist our clients in feeling a level of comfort to continue the journey towards their life values and goals. At cerebral psychology we work with all members of the community, from children, adolescents, adults to the elderly during a diverse number of key milestones in their lives.
Cerebral psychology offers one on one psychology sessions for a range of mental health concerns. We offer a range of testing for children and adults in our specialized and dedicated testing room modelled to make children and adolescents feel more comfortable. We also offer group therapy.
